Success of the 21st edition of Festa do Botelo de O Barco

The Festa do Botelo do Barco ended this Sunday with a performance by the artist María do Ceo at the Teatro Lauro Olmo. It was the finishing touch, of luxury, to an intense weekend dedicated to Botelo, which thousands of people enjoyed both at the massive meal held at the Calabagueiros Pavilion and at the 18 restaurants in Barco and surrounding areas that participated in the second edition. of the Botelo and Cocido Valdeorrés Gastronomic Festivals.

Participation was massive in all the activities organized by the Department of Culture for this edition of the Festa do Botelo. The proclamation, delivered by the renowned actor Federico Pérez Rey, was especially endearing due to the tribute paid to the cook Adela Pombo, who worked for more than 40 years of professional life in the kitchen of the Condesa de Fenosa school, giving eat thousands of children in those years. The proclamation was fun from the first minute, with the performance of the Orfeón Valdeorrés, presided over by a great boom performed by the members of the musical group themselves, and then with the intervention of the crier, which caused laughter from all attendees.

The meal at the Pavilion, with more than 1,300 diners, was a resounding organizational success, with the music of the groups participating in the Tavern Songs present during the meal. The events of this edition of the Festa do Botelo begin this Thursday, January 19, and continue until Sunday. This year there will be a movie, with this year’s town crier, the actor Fede, as the protagonist of the chosen film, which will be shown in several sessions. On Friday there is theater, and on Saturday all the institutional events will take place, as well as the official meal.

On Saturday there will also be a lot of music, with parades and foliadas and tavern songs. The closing of the activities will be on Sunday, with the performance of María do Ceo at the Teatro Lauro Olmo.

O Barco celebrates the XXI Festa do Botelo on January 21

The central activities of the XXI edition of the Festa do Botelo will be held on Saturday, January 21, starting at 12:00 p.m. Tickets for the lunch, which will take place at the Calabagueiros Sports Pavilion starting at 2:30 p.m., will go on sale on Saturday the 14th, starting at 9 a.m., at the Lauro Olmo Theater. There will be a total of 1,150 tickets, which this year will have a price of 20 euros.

The program of activities starts on Thursday the 19th, with the screening of the film “O corpo aberto”, at the Lauro Olmo Theater. There will be three sessions, at 5, 7 and 9 p.m. On Friday the 20th, at 9:00 p.m. on the same stage, the performance of the play “Pirolíticos” by the company “Mofa e Befa” is offered.

On the 21st, the activities begin at 12 in the morning with the proclamation and presentation of the honorable mention, at the Lauro Olmo Theater. It will be presented by the actress Fátima Delgado, and the honorable mention will go to Adela Pombo Fernández, retired cook from CEIP Condesa de Fenosa.
