More than 370 people tasted the botelo at the fourth edition of the party held in A Coruña

The fourth Festa do Botelo was held today in the city of A Coruña with the attendance of more than 370 people. The Mirador de San Pedro restaurant, as in the three previous editions, was filled with fans of the King of Valdeorres winter sausage and that the Barco de Valdeorras Council is promoting with the organization of events like today’s. The botelo, that is to say, the pig’s stomach filled with marinated ribs, smoked and consumed cooked, is achieving great recognition and diffusion outside the Valdeorres lands. The mayor of Barco, Alfredo García, the deputy mayor of A Coruña and councilor for Tourism, Alberto Lema, and the mayor of Carballo, Evencio Ferrero, were accompanying this event in the city of Herculaneum.

The party began at 1:00 p.m. with the reception of the diners and then the meal in which the starters were the traditional sopa do cocido and the typical maravallas empanada. The main course had botelo as the protagonist and accompanied by cachelos, chorizos and cabbage. For dessert there was bica and the roxóns cake in addition to the musical group, Os Peteras, to liven up the afternoon. To accompany the food from the bottle there were white Godello wines from the Godeval, D´berna wineries and the red wine from the Jésús Nazareno de O Barco Cooperative.

This Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia since 2014 celebrated its seventeenth edition last January 21 in the village of Barco. Now its promotion continues outside the Valdeorres lands and in addition to today’s meal in A Coruña, another one is already being prepared in Vigo in its third edition for March 11.
