The twentieth edition of the Festa do Botelo has its big day in the town of Barque
The Ourense town of Barco de Valdeorras is experiencing today its Big Day of the XX Botelo Festival. The Party will begin at 12 noon at the Lauro Olmo Teatro with the act of reading the proclamation by the actor and storyteller, Avelino González, and the presentation of the Mention of Honor to the founding partner of Adegas Godeval, Honorato López Isla. The act will be presented by the Barque poetess, Fátima Delgado, and will feature the performance of Orfeón Valdeorrés. The Honorable Mention this year opens to the world of wine after nineteen years by granting this reminder to people related to the town’s hospitality industry. The municipality of Barque wants to start recognizing the work done in the wine sector and will start with one of the wineries that has been based in the town since its foundation in 1986 and that is part of those that started the recovery of the Godello variety in the region.
Once the event at the Lauro Olmo Theater is over, people will move to eat the botelo both at the official meal that will be held at the Calabagueiros Pavilion and at the town’s restaurants that offer the Valdeorré king of winter sausage. In the case of food in the pavilion, there will be around 1300 people including guests and assistants with tickets to give a good account of the boiled bottle with potatoes, cabbage and sausages. In the venue they will be able to take a souvenir photo on a “Roman” stage set up for the occasion, as well as buy the commemorative t-shirt of this edition. In the afternoon it will be time to digest the bottle by attending the TVG program, Aquí Galicia, which will be broadcasting live from the Campo da Festa, on the Paseo do Malecón. In addition, from seven o’clock there will be the fifth edition of the Cantos de Taberna by various bars in the town. The party will continue until Sunday with the route of pinchos after having yesterday the Botelo Concert with the performance of the Milladoiro group and last weekend the third edition of the Botelo Trip was held with journalists from Galicia and Madrid. A whole program aimed at making the Barco bottle known and being able to taste it at its optimal time.
