The II Gastronomic Days of Botelo and Cocido Valdeorrés follow in 18 restaurants
The second edition of the Jornadas do Botelo and Valdeorrés cocido are celebrated until February 19 in 18 establishments in Barco de Valdeorras (the majority), Vilamartín and Sobradelo. Organized by the Barco Council, the participating restaurants offer menus in which botelo is the star product, along with androllas, chorizos and other pork products, always accompanied by vegetables, potatoes and chorizos, as well as wines from Valdeorras.
Prices in restaurants range between 18 euros for the cheapest menu, and 35 for the most expensive. Among the participants there is also an establishment whose main activity is takeaway food. In all cases, prior booking is required.
The Council decided to continue with the Gastronomic Days after the success achieved in the first edition, last year, and mainly because of the great interest shown by the Barco restaurants. Both the Councilor for Tourism, Eladio Santos, and the Councilor for Culture, Margarida Pizcueta, highlighted in the presentation of the Days that the objective of the corporation is that the Festa do Botelo is not celebrated only on the 21st, when the popular meal takes place in the Sports Pavilion , but also throughout the following weeks, “so that the activity is maintained in the hospitality industry practically until the Carnival”, and thus “help to generate economic activity and wealth”.
